Experience a journey through time as you discover the vast Sahara Desert in the dunes of Merzouga, surrounded by the oases and kasbahs of southern Morocco. Ride a camel into the desert and spend the night beneath a sky full of stars in a traditional camp at the foot of the dunes. Discover a completely different way of life, meet Berber families, and experience their incredible hospitality. You’ll also explore the imperial cities of Fez and Meknes. ITINERARY
DAY 1
(Córdoba – Fez – Ifrane)
We’ll depart for Algeciras, where we’ll board a fast ferry to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. Once in Morocco, we’ll continue by bus to Fez, the historic Idrisid capital. Here, you’ll have lunch before exploring the city’s fascinating medina, its majestic streets, and its vibrant traditional souk. Afterwards, we’ll continue our adventure to Ifrane, where we’ll check into our hotel. Dinner is included, and you’ll have the evening to relax.
DAY 2
We’ll travel through the breathtaking interior of Morocco on our way to the Sahara Desert. Along the route, we’ll pass through one of Morocco’s most famous cedar forests, home to the country’s well-known wild monkeys. If we’re lucky enough to see them, we’ll stop for photos.Halfway through the journey, we’ll stop in Rissani, famous for its spices, dates, and traditional market. Known as the Gateway to the Desert, it’s the perfect place to experience authentic Moroccan culture before continuing our journey.
Then… we’ve finally arrived in the desert! After checking into the hotel, get ready for a Desert Gala Night. Bring your best outfit, as our Berber hosts will organize a memorable evening of celebration and entertainment.
DAY 3
Good morning from the desert!
We’ll start the day by relaxing at the hotel’s swimming pool and enjoying the warm desert sunshine. During the morning, you’ll have the opportunity to join 4x4 desert tours and other hotel activities. We highly recommend this optional excursion, as it takes you through spectacular desert landscapes where you’ll meet local nomadic families.
Every year, we bring food and supplies for the nomadic children living in the desert. If you’d like to contribute, you’re welcome to bring food that we can deliver during the 4x4 tour.
At around 5:30 PM, we’ll begin an unforgettable two-hour camel ride across the dunes to reach our traditional Berber camp. Here, we’ll spend the night in authentic desert tents beneath a breathtaking sky filled with stars. A truly magical experience in the heart of the Sahara.
DAY 4
After witnessing one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the world, we’ll leave the desert behind and return to the bus to begin our journey back to northern Morocco.
Throughout the day, we’ll admire the spectacular landscapes of southern Morocco as we cross both the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas Mountains. Vast oases filled with palm trees reveal the region’s unique scenery.
We’ll stop at the Ziz Valley, Morocco’s largest oasis, famous for its endless palm groves and for producing the country’s finest dates. After several scenic stops along the way, we’ll arrive in Meknes, where we’ll enjoy panoramic views of its streets and viewpoints.
At around 8:00 PM, we’ll check into our hotel, where dinner is included.
At night, we’ll have a party!
DAY 5
We’ll leave Meknes behind and begin our journey back to Spain. In the evening, we’ll board the ferry that will take us back across the Strait of Gibraltar and into another world once again.
Who knows… we might even have one last surprise waiting for us before the trip comes to an end!
